Title: The Lost and the Chosen (The Lost Sentinel Book 1) Pdf
My name is Vinna, and I’ve been keeping a lot of secrets.

You would too if you'd experienced some of the weird shit I have: red-eyed monsters chasing me, markings on my body appearing out of nowhere, a strange power that crackles colorfully over my skin from time to time, and don't get me started on the weapons I can conjure up almost out of nowhere.

Lucky for me, I have yet to meet someone whose ass I couldn't kick, inside the ring or out. I put that to the test when I run headfirst into a fight that brings all my secrets, and reality as I know it, crashing down around me.

Now, I'm looking for answers and trying to piece together what the hell is going on. Paranormal is my new way of life. It's not going to be easy, and I'm not exactly welcome.

That is, until I meet the boys, and trust me, they are anything but boyish.

I'm up against elders who think I’m too powerful, a family who views me as a threat, and something lurking in the shadows that's been coming for me my whole life.

There’s not a chance in hell I’m going down without a fight. I’m not lost anymore, and I'm about to show this world exactly what I can do.

Author’s Note: This is the first book in The Lost Sentinel Series and ends with a cliffhanger. This book is a medium burn reverse harem story, intended for ages 18 years and older. This story contains strong language, sexual situations, and violence.

Book two coming in January

Magic, Mayhem, and Mystery At first, I wasn't entirely sure what to do with The Lost and the Chosen. Vinna appealed to me: she's a total bad*ss, a powerful young woman who takes care of herself without a thought to lean on someone else. It's pretty clear that she's packed with a ton of magic, but also quickly clear that she doesn't really know very much about where she's from or what's given her that power. Her gifts are a mystery, and not one she's ever had a chance or help to unravel. That is, at least until she gets almost strangled by some surprising help. When Vinna first met Lachlan and his group, I was a little thrown off. Okay, she's an adult, in her twenties. However, I was confused at the idea of her immediately meeting a group of men who are mostly described as being in their forties; this seemed like a surprising direction to go. Now, I can't predict what Asher has in mind for the future of the series, but I will definitely confirm that interest (romantic, at least) is established between Vinna and a younger group of guys who are related to/associated with the older paladin (magical warriors) that find Vinna. So, don't be turned off or discouraged by the fact that she meets these older men first!ANYWAY, past that disclaimer...The young casters that Vinna meets make an interesting group: Valen & Bastien (twin brothers), Sabin, Knox, and Ryker. Each of them comes with their own specific skill set in terms of magic, but none seem like they can compare to Vinna. There's no doubt that there's something overwhelmingly special about her, something that none of them are going to inherently know how to control. The boys are a bit of background for me, but I think there's a lot of room to develop them into fully-fleshed out individuals. We get a little taste of what music Ryker likes, Sabin's hobbies, the way the boys relate to each other and how they run the group they've established among themselves. They're not as deep as Vinna, but it's a good start.Asher uses the norms of her magical world to justify the reverse harem concept, and it's only strengthened as we discover more about what Vinna is. Although we don't get a super in-depth reveal (I feel like there's a LOT more to learn about her history and powers), we do get a firm basis to start understanding what makes our girl special before the end of the book. For awhile though, we're just as fumbling as she is, learning more about her abilities with every new mistake and triumph that she has.My big question is where book two will pick up. The Lost and the Chosen doesn't end on a cliffhanger, per say, but there's some major drama and reveals right before it's all wrapped up. Because of that, it's totally up in the air where Asher will take us next. Will Vinna go to school with the boys and try to start a "normal" caster routine? Will she pursue the leads she's gotten about her missing father? Will the Elders find out what she truly is?These questions definitely have me interested, and I'm looking forward to getting some of them answered in book two.Couldn't Ask for Better! Let me start by saying I will not be discussing any details of this book, or giving any kind of summary. I do, however, want to inform any potential readers that this book is one of those that comes along a few times a year, takes you by complete surprise, and latches on with a fervor that keeps you from looking away, even though you've got to be at work in a few hours. I've read 233 books so far this year, and The Lost and the Chosen is now firmly in my Top 5.The main character, Vinna (Bruiser, Little Badass, Little Warrior), is an absolutely amazing woman, totally deserving of her nicknames. She's a fighter. Like, a FIGHTER. Not only is that her day job, but it's also her nature. Her strength is unmatched, and though she has magic, magic that increases her strength, it's not some gift she was handed unearned, and it doesn't rule her. She was strong before the magic, forged in fire and proven hard. But she also has a compassion that only amplifies her strength of character. It's amazing to get to know her intricacies along he way. It has been a long time since I've seen such a well-rounded and authentic character. Vinna is one of my favorite heroines of all time.Ivy Asher has done an amazing job with this story and these characters. I finished the book, and was searching for book two to pre-order within a minute. I'm sure I'll be reading something else come January, when book two releases, but it won't matter. I will be reading book two on release day regardless of whatever else I'm doing.Ivy, you've got yet another fan in me.
